Nidec — prototype furnace suppression

Gas suppression failed to put the furnace out and burned with it. The plant director puts the saving from the new system above a million euros.

Two furnaces coat and bake the rotors of washing machine motors at up to 180 °C. Above that line the chemical self-ignites — and that is exactly what happened. The original gas suppression failed to put the furnace out and was destroyed along with it. We built a prototype of autonomous suppression directly into the furnace. The modules were tested at 100 to 150 °C in continuous 24-hour operation, because any lesser trial would have proved nothing. The plant director puts the saving at over a million euros.
