A maintenance-free system that someone still looks at once a year
MPH modules are unpressurised and need no refilling or recharging. The guaranteed 12-year service life, though, holds only with regular annual inspections. A technician checks the sensors, the module mountings and the state of the cartridge — so that on the day of a fire the system actually fires.
How often and for how long
What the technician checks
- The TPS thermal sensor and its trigger temperature — 72, 93 or 110 °C depending on where it sits.
- The module mounting and whether anything new blocks its discharge path.
- The integrity of the cartridge and its commissioning date.
- The link to the alarm line, the SA-01 signalling system and the GSM module, where the zone has them.
- In industry, the environment too — dust, damp, corrosion, vibration.
Changes to the space defeat a system far more often than wear does. A new rack under a module or a moved partition can knock a zone out while the hardware is perfectly sound. That is exactly why someone comes and looks.
How long it takes
Installation is done by an authorised SAPFIR technician. One luminaire takes around 30 minutes. A three-room flat is usually covered by three to six systems, which is three to five hours of work. Industrial zones do not generalise like that — there the survey decides.
We will remind you when the inspection is due
A year goes quickly. Leave us your email and the date of the last inspection and we will get in touch as the next one comes round. No newsletter, no offers — one message, when a technician is due.
